The Link Secondary School uses Lexia Strategies which is a web-based program that provides the targeted practice and instruction students need to develop their reading skills. As an added benefit, pupils can use Lexia Strategies at home.
Lexia Strategies was designed in response to the high number of older students requiring reading skills support. The program offers structured personalised practice to students (11 years to adult), using age appropriate content in a more mature interface.
Lexia Strategies is designed to increase automatic word recognition by reinforcing phonic elements and sound/symbol relationships. As students progress, they develop word-attack strategies, sight words, comprehension and vocabluary skills. Working independently, pupils quickly gain a sense of confidence and achievement.
Another web-based program that the Link Secondary School uses is BKSBLive2 which is an elearning platform for GCSEs and Functional Skills in Englisg, Maths and ICT. BKSBLive2 provides an engaging and interactive content for pupils and teaching staff. Pupils can access the elearning program at the following link
